Defeating Matthias Lund in Wartales is a tough task for a beginner, and knowing the right counters is vital. You need plenty of dots for this fight against Matthias Lund. All essentials commodities like Poison, burning and bleed should be stacked up. Along with that, flaming arrows and burning in general are great if you can keep Matthias Lund relatively stationary.

Here is one strategy to defeat Matthias Lund in Wartales. It was shared by Reddit user u/DrQuimbyP some time ago:

I did him last night. 7 followers, all level 4 apart from a fresh level 1 recruit. Normal mode, didn’t lose anyone.

My swordsman went first and tried to stay as the only character staying in contact with Lund at the end of any turn. He kept taunt on Lund at all times, as well as protection and deflection on himself. He has leather straps (+5% guard) and heavy armor (~30% guard) for a total of over 100%. Furthermore, he took a grand total of 1 damage from each of Lund’s knock back attacks.

Everyone else went in, attacked, and stepped back at least 3 meters to the opposite side to my tank.

On two occasions, because of turn order, my swordsman was not the closest to Lund and on these occasions he targeted my pikeman and brute who then stayed well back for the remainder of the fight.

Recoil shot (?) and the Pikeman’s impale and shield wall did not interrupt Lund’s targeted attacks.

Flaming arrows and burning in general are great if you can keep Lund relatively stationary. 11 DMG per turn just from the dot.

Now let us take a look at another strategy to defeat Matthias Lund in Wartales. It was shared by Reddit user u/Sufficient-Figure610 a while ago:

As people are saying, killing him with dots is the best way to do it. On normal difficulty at level 7 he had about 700 armor and 400 hp. I had rangers with poison(each poison stacks, I had about 25 stacks on him before he dropped), archer equipped with fire bow, and a brute/warrior with a bleed effect hammer weapon.

ALSO: You can actually not have to worry about any of your heroes getting hit. All you have to do is create a wall of animals/companions, when he TARGETS someone in the front, just have that guy move behind your wall. He will then walk in the OPPOSITE direction of your heroes. I had about 20 animals(with a hero that knew the ANIMAL CONTROL skill) too, which helps in the fight because you can then move your companions when you need them to move.
